FILMING IN ELDORET


Eldoret town is home to about half a million people according to the latest Kenyan census data. A very small percentage of the town’s inhabitants have made the town and even the country of Kenya famous. These of course are Kenya’s elite runners.


From Eliud Kipchoge to Bernard Lagat, Janet Chepkemboi and Paul Tergat, numerous accomplished, retired and aspiring atheltes live in Eldoret and it’s satellite smaller towns of Iten, Kaptagat and Kapsabet.


When considering filming in Eldoret, there are several factors you need to consider first.


  1. Kenya Film Crew & Equipment

As we discussed in our article about filming in Mombasa the bulk of Kenya’s film crew and equipment are based in Nairobi, the capital city. Eldoret however in 6 hours away by road and just 40 minutes by flight from Nairobi. There are 3 daily flights out of Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International airport to Eldoret International.


  1. Athlete access

While access to young aspiring athletes can be organized quickly by us, the more established runners need to have their management informed well in advance. Talk to Prokraft Africa and we can organize all you need for filming in Eldoret.



  1. Hotels

Eldoret has a range of hotels to meet any budget category. From the executive BomaHotel to the more budget friendly Starbucks, Eldoret has all you need.


  1. Kenya Filming Permits

Film permits can be organized through an accredited filming agent such as Prokraft Africa. The process takes about a week and you are ready to go.
